The City of Balch Springs recognized three businesses at the Best Southwest Regional Economic Development (RED) Summit Luncheon on March 23, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Duncanville. Mayor Carrie Marshall, Mayor Pro Tem Steven Gorwood, Council Member Wanda Adams, Council Member Tartisha Hill, Council Member Sammy Moon, ED Type A Vice-President Keran Bhakta, Type A Board Member Lauren Grady Johnson, Type B board member Kelwyn Hill, City Manager Susan Cluse, City Secretary Cindy Gross, Police Chief Jon Haber, Fire Chief Randy Smith, HR Manager Mark Morris, Community Development Director Chris Dyser, Economic Development staff Effie Donaldson and Linda Highwood were in attendance for the event.
The Best Southwest Partnership is comprised of 12 City partners seeking to promote southern Dallas and northeastern Ellis Counties of Texas whose mission is to successfully promote economic development, tourism and diversification of business. The two hour event included a summit panel discussion of development in the southern sector and recognition of the 2017 economic development partners. The attendees included were economic development leaders from within the city, neighboring cities, and businesses from the area.
The City of Balch Springs recognized three businesses in Balch Springs: KB Homes Spring Ridge Phase Four represented by Rudy Alonzo, Discount Tire and Scottish Inn and Suites:
KB Home Spring Ridge is developing single family residential subdivision Phase Four to the Spring Ridge addition. This new subdivision will include three and four bedroom homes with a capital investment of $4.3 million. Construction on these beautiful homes began in 2017 and is anticipated to be complete in 2018.
Discount Tire construction has begun on the 7,300 SF Discount Tire Store located at 12113 Lake June Road. Discount Tire is known for quality service and quality tires and is a tire and wheel retailer owned by The Reinalt-Thomas Corporation which is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. Discount Tire will employ about ten employees. The project is anticipated to have a total capital investment $1,060,000 once complete. Construction is anticipated to be competed in the Spring/Summer of 2017.
Scottish Inn and Suites opened a new 11,913 square foot two story motel which offers spacious rooms furnished with 50” flat screen TV’s and other great amenities. Scottish Inn and Suites capital investment is $1.4 million and has hired 5 employees. The motel is operating under a franchise agreement granted by Tucker, Georgia-based Hospitality International, Inc., exclusive franchisor of the Scottish Inns and Suites brand.
