On February 27th the City of Balch Springs celebrated a ground breaking ceremony for the Timbers at Hickory Tree by Dominium Development. In attendance was the Honorable State Representative Toni Rose, Honorable State Representative Rhetta Bowers, Laryssa Bonacquisti with State Senator Bob Hall’s Office, Janie Havel with the Office of Governor Abbott’s Office, Council Member Charlene Rushing, Council Member Tartisha Hill, Council Member Steve Tucker, Council Member Helen Shelby, Council Member Sammy Moon, City Manager Susan Cluse, City staff, Dominium representatives and honored guests.
The property is located at 3401 Hickory Tree Road. The development will entail high standards to maintain long term durability per the city’s planned development ordinance standards. The development will also have an economic impact of $32,000,000 including 84 temporary jobs and 4 permanent jobs once the construction phase is completed.
The developer has also agreed to pay for the construction of a 6 ft wide trail around the pond at Walter E. Luedeke Park along with installation of security cameras, park bench seating and lighting along the trail. The Developer also has agreed in a development agreement to escrow funds to assist the City in future street improvements to Hickory Tree Road.
The three-story gated community will feature 216 residential units and include the following amenities including, a keyed access, pool, a gazebo, clubhouse with supportive services including after school programs, bus stop, tot lot playground, bbq grills bike racks, Cafe Kitchen, fitness room, as well as several pavilions and leisure spaces and will also feature trail access to Luedeke Park.
The project started construction with a targeted completion of Fall 2021.
